Located on property at the Amangiri Resort in Southern Utah, Ulrike’s Cave is a popular hiking destination. Along the hike, there is an abandonded false mine shaft that was used as a set for the 1996 film Broken Arrow which starred John Travolta, Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis.

More recently, the cave served as a workshop for German earth painter Ulrike Arnold, who created the paintings displayed in the Pavilion Dining Room as well as in each of Amangiri’s guest suites.

Ulrike's used paint brushes left in the sand.

Ulrike's paint palate created from the natural elements located on the property.

  1. Hi,
Isn’t it amazing being able to get all those colours from items off the property, and I love those paint brushes in the sand, it is a kind of art all by themselves. 😀
