I’ve heard this song 1000 times but for some reason writing this down verse by verse, it really hit me how profound these words are and how much insight John Lennon had for his time. Wouldn’t it be beautiful if we were all dreamers?

I think it is amazing that few people realize this song is anti religion.
I don’t like to debate religion as I believe everyone has the right to believe what they want, for me personally, I take it coming from more of a spiritual sense than, for lack of a better term, an organized religion point of view where people are fighting over it. This was written when Ireland was in turmoil along with many other things. But I am someone with Christian beliefs, so I do see where you’re coming from and appreciate your comment.
