Today I had the pleasure of attending the Goat Hill Fair, an antique and artisan show, which was held in the beautiful setting of the Santa Cruz Mountain’s at Yoder’s Goat Farm. The fair is comprised of approximately 50 unique vendors selling antiques and hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind creations made by local artisans.
This was my first time attending this fair and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to find creatively different merchandise other than what the normal community street fairs carry. I actually stopped going to those community fairs because it was always the same vendors, selling the same stuff at each fair. So it was extremely refreshing to come across such an eclectic mixture of unique crafts and antiques.
Many of the vendors have a store or location where they sell their merchandise on a regular basis, so I was familiar with some of the vendors there.
A few of my favorites were Duexieme Vie (the Second Life), re-purposed fun, fashionable vintage handbags from the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s designed by my friend, Michele Buchholtz. Each is uniquely embellished using a variety of vintage findings, handmade floral accents and always something shiny!
Michele calls her purses “The Ladies” because she believes each is a one-of-a-kind with its own soul ~ and she takes great pride in giving these “ladies” their “Deuxieme Vie”, their second life.
Another of my favorite vendors is Atelier de Campagne. Atelier de Campagne is a team of three fantastic and fun guys, Trino, Johan and Matin who are antique importers and designers and have a location in Corralitos, CA, an off-site location in an antique shop in Santa Cruz, Centre Street, and they also sell at antique fairs.
I follow Atelier on their facebook site and drool each time they post their merchandise and their “shopping” trips in Europe. Their authentic, vintage pieces are incredibly beautiful and are wonderful embellishments in any home. Needless to say, I did not walk away empty handed from their station.
A fun and unique accessory designer is Judy Stanley of Judy’s Buckles. Judy designs fun and funky belts and pendants to spice up a wardrobe ~ if you’re looking for something plain, don’t come here! This is all bling! Puts a smile on my face. 🙂
Judy customizes her pendants with fun words, sayings, children’s names, etc.
One of the things that amazed me the most about this event was how all these vendors brought in their merchandise and displayed everything so beautifully. Entire rooms were recreated on top of this goat farm. It’s obvious that there was a lot of hard work involved and that these artisans and dealers take pride in and truly enjoy what they do!
Unfortunately, I can’t highlight all the wonderful vendors that had booths here but take a look at the slideshow at the end of this post for a variety of more pictures from this event.
All in all, I think the consensus on this event is that…
And by the way, there is a reason this is named Goat Hill…
Here is a complete list of the vendors that participated in this event – click on Vendor Info and Gallery tab. Enjoy the slideshow and all the incredible merchandise that was available. Click on the first image and a slideshow will start.
So vintage and so pretty!! The goats are cute too. 🙂
That one dark goat is beautiful!
It looks like a lot of fun. I hope the goats enjoyed the day too.
I think the goats loved it because they were getting a lot of attention. 🙂
Great shootin’ !! My wife would love to see this. 🙂
Yes, this is definitely a girl thing! Although, there were some men there..accompanying their wives probably. 🙂
What a great place to browse! I milked goats the two summers I worked at a camp off Bear Creek Road…I think their faces are so charming.
That must have been a fun thing to do! I thought that dark one was really gorgeous.
What a fantastic way to spend the day! Can’t believe you didn’t leave with a truckload full of cool goodies.
Yes, it was a fun day. It was very hot though so I probably left a little earlier than I would have if it had been cooler.
How fun!
It was a great day.
What a fun and colourful post! Wish I could have been there… but on the other hand, I’d have needed a truck to get all of my purchases home, and then… where to put them? They are fine where they are, in my mind. : ) Thanks for the lovely virtual shopping trip! ~ Lily
Yes, the virtual shopping trip is much more affordable and manageable! 🙂
I’ve never been to an antique fair where all of the vendors had such exquisite taste. Everything is so beautiful!!
It really was a unique blend of vendors and some really beautiful items.
Thank you for the beautiful write-up! We enjoyed having you there! Your photos are beautiful!
Thank you so much Becky. Your property is gorgeous and it was a fun event.
Looks amazing! It would be so hard not to leave with one of almost everything!
If I hadn’t been so focused on getting my pictures I’m sure I would have left with more. 🙂
Oh I totally understand that. I use that idea in antique malls now, I shoot lots of photos and textures and try not to buy.
Girl thing or not, this is a happy post and just the brightness this mid-Michigan bloke needed today, as it’s gloomy and dark here. (I want to remember to come back later, so my Anna can see your goats…)
Looks like a wonderful way to spend the day.
